The most common hardware question, answered honestly.
Knobs use a single hole, so almost any knob will fit almost any cabinet. Pulls are different: they mount on two holes at a fixed center-to-center spacing, and a new pull only drops into existing holes if that spacing matches. Common spacings are 3 inches, 96 millimeters, 128 millimeters, and 160 millimeters, and they are not interchangeable.
Measure center to center on one existing pull, bring the number to the showroom, and we will show you what fits. If nothing in the spacing you have suits you, the options are backplates that cover the old holes, or filling and refinishing the doors, and we will tell you which is worth doing.
