    Countertops

The surface you touch every day, and the one that sets the tone for the whole room. Quartz, granite, marble, solid surface, and butcher block, seen in person in our Waltham showroom, then templated, fabricated, and installed by us. We do not sell a slab and leave you to find someone to fit it.

    How to choose a countertop

A countertop is the one material in your kitchen you will put your hands on every single day, and the one homeowners most often choose from a two-inch sample under a store light. That is how people end up surprised.

Stone moves. Veining runs differently across a full slab than it does on a chip. Quartz is consistent by design, natural stone is not, and that difference is the whole decision for some people. Some surfaces want sealing, some do not. Some scratch, some stain, some do neither but cost more.

Our designers put the real material in front of you and tell you plainly how each one behaves: how it wears, what it asks of you, what it costs to live with. Then we match it to how you actually use the room, because the right countertop for a household that cooks every night is not the right one for a household that entertains twice a year.

    What we carry

Quartz: Calacatta Miraggio Sienna, MSI Q quartz, LumaLuxe Ultra
Calacatta Miraggio Sienna, MSI Q quartz, LumaLuxe Ultra.

    Quartz

Engineered, consistent from slab to slab, non-porous, no sealing. The most forgiving surface for a busy kitchen.

    Granite: Black Galaxy, MSI granite
    Black Galaxy, MSI granite.

    Granite

Natural stone, every slab different, heat tolerant and hard wearing.

    Marble: Portinari, MSI marble
    Portinari, MSI marble.

    Marble

The classic look, with the honest tradeoff: it patinas, and for many people that is the appeal.

Butcher block: Maple butcher block island, edge-grain maple, a Bay State project in Newton

    Butcher block

Warm wood, right for an island or a prep run, a working surface with character.

Edge profiles, backsplash treatments, and sink cutouts are all selected with your designer as part of the layout, not decided afterward.

Actual colors, veining, and finishes vary; natural stone varies slab to slab. Please review physical samples in the showroom.

    How it actually gets installed

    1. 01Your material and slab are selected in the showroom and specified into the design.
    2. 02Cabinets have to be in place and level first, whether they went in yesterday or twenty years ago. Nothing is measured before that.
    3. 03A template is made off the cabinets in your home, your real walls, your real openings, so the fit is cut to the room and not to a drawing.
    4. 04Fabrication runs at the shop, edges shaped, cutouts made for sink, faucet, and cooktop.
    5. 05Installation: the top is set, secured to the base cabinets, scribed to the walls, and sealed at the edges and backsplash.

This is why a countertop is never the first thing to arrive on a job, and why we handle the whole chain instead of handing you a delivery date.

    See what countertops really cost

Countertops are one of the largest line items in any kitchen. Real Project Finish Budgets shows the itemized finishes orders from real finished projects, countertops included, so you can see actual numbers instead of ranges.

    Planning resource

    Real Project Finish Budgets

See itemized cabinets, appliances, countertops, stone and tile, plumbing, flooring, windows, and hardware from finished Bay State projects. These are finishes, not total project cost, and they are a planning starting point rather than a quote for your project.

Two ways to buy a countertop

Every countertop we sell is templated, fabricated, and installed by us. There is no version where you take a slab home.

    Countertop only

You are replacing the tops and keeping the rest of the room. We template off your existing cabinets, fabricate, and install. One trade, a short project, your kitchen back in a few days.

    As part of your remodel

The countertop is one selection inside a full kitchen or bathroom project, designed, supplied, and built by one company.
